Academy of Education

The Academy of Education represents an independent, nonprofit making civil organisation with the main focus being on life-long learning leading to gaining, expanding and preserving expert, cultural and social knowledge. The Academy of Education is the largest and oldest educational organization in Slovakia since 1952.

The Academy of Education is the most experienced, the most respected as well as the largest institution specialising in educating adults in Slovakia. More than 200 advisers and 2000 Slovak and foreign lecturers organise and run education programmes in 36 branches all over Slovakia.

7665 educational courses were organized for 44 623 participants in 2010 in the following areas:

• Vocational education and training
• Preparatory courses for university studies
• Language education, Information technologies
• Management study
• Specialised competence, work safety and fire precautions
• Re-training: economics, businesses, management, services and crafts, social law activities etc.
• Graduate studies

Thanks to our portfolio, offering training, courses and seminar meetings we were able to attract clients from almost all areas: banking, insurance, industry, education, the civil service and many others. Considerable cooperation was assured with the National Labour Office when organizing courses for employees but mainly offering further education courses for job applicants.

STUDY IN SLOVAKIA in cooperate with Academy of Education provide preparatory and training courses in medicine, economy, business and engineering for foreign students.

The Academy of Education is a member of the European Association for the Education of Adults and is recognised as being a respectable institution. It has regular working contacts with partners from other European Union countries. We have been cooperating with partner institutions educating adults in almost all European countries as well as international organisations involved in educating adults.


Graduates of our accredited courses are given certificates that are recognised as relevant and valid across the country. In 2010 we were also licensed with another 23 new accreditations by the Ministry of Education of SR in 2010 and this increased the total number to more than 200 accredited modules. In cooperation with foreign institutions, the citizens of Slovakia were able to gain internationally valid certificates in the areas of: information technologies - European Computer Driving Licence language courses - The European Language Certificates.
